Memorial Day Preparation

Memorial Weekend 2008
May 24, 25, & 26

The Axtell Area Chamber of Commerce will once again be the coordinating organization for the Memorial Weekend activities. The media flyer must be ready by May 12th so we will have a May 9th deadline to be included. The Chamber secretary Jim Messerer will be the contact person to have your activity included on the flyer. He would prefer it in writing. You can send it to the Chamber at P.O. Box 26 Axtell or give it to him in person at the Post Office.
So far we already know that Keene Church is in charge of the Memorial Day noon meal which will be held at the school in the activity gym from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m. It will follow the VFW Cemetery Service at 10:30 a.m. The firemen and Mosaic will help organize the parade which will start at 1:30 p.m. You may begin to line up for the parade at 1 p.m. just west of Kat's Korner on west 3rd street. We will again welcome all to enter the parade. Old cars, trucks, and tractors. Area organizations, businesses, and floats of all kinds. The route will remain the same, start at Kat's Korner and finish at Mosaic. 1.2 miles in length.
Just prior to the 1:30 p.m. parade, we will have the kiddie parade. It will start at about 1:15 p.m. Kids will need to start lining up at 1 p.m. on the street in front of Dug's Shop. "Patriotic" will be this years Kiddie theme.
